Production of the Opel/Vauxhall Insignia started in 2008 as a replacement for the Vectra.

It has been sold over the years as a sedan/saloon (including a fastback version) or estate/station wagon with 4 or 5 doors.

In Australia, the car was sold as the Holden Commodore and in Chile as the Chevrolet Vectra briefly.

This 2021 Vauxhall/Opel Insignia model is an example of the second generation model that came into production in 2017.

Styling was massively improved in this new version and pushed even further into the executive segment that it partially sat in before.

Underneath the car is a General Motors platform that it shares with the Chevrolet Malibu and the Cadillac XT4, both sold in the USA.

Customers can choose from a range of engines, from a sensible Ecotec 1.5-liter gasoline to a performance-heavy 3.6-liter V6.

In crash tests performed by ANCAP, the car performed very well and earned 5 out of 5 stars, exceeding in the adult occupant safety class.
