The Volkswagen ID.3 is the first production car to adopt the new "ID" naming scheme.
These ID cars are all electric-only with no internal combustion engines found among the range at all.
This ID.3 is the compact car version of the range and was put into production in 2019 for the German 2020 model year.
It uses the MEB platform that is shared among many other electric-powered Volkswagen models such as the 2021 Škoda Enyaq.
To help the ID range from VW stand out the company has given the models (such as this ID.3) futuristic features not found elsewhere in the automobile market.
Space-age features such as video-camera wing mirrors and LiDAR-based autonomous driving were presented on the concept vehicle, some features did make it to the production model.
The 2021 VW ID.3 is available with one of three powertrains, giving a range of 205 miles, 260 miles or 340 miles.
Budget is the main aspect that controls which drivetrain you get, the higher trims require more batteries and more powerful motors.
2021 models of the car benefit from a software update that saw production delays in the previous year due to errors appearing in the car.
