The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 hybrid is a crossover SUV, first announced in late February 2021. The car is heavily designed off the classic Pony line and features many cosmetic similarities. For example, the Inoiq shares the iconic pixel design on the headlights and wheels.

The Ioniq 5 has a unique 3-meter-long wheelbase, which has very useful features relating to storage. For instance, engineers at Hyundai have developed a sliding central console, which reveals a cargo capacity of over 500 Litres. Coupled with a front trunk, the Inoiq has some serious storage space.

As a hybrid, the Ioniq is able to charge electrical equipment using the Vehicle to Load system. The Ioniq can charge other devices even when the ignition is off.

The 2022 model of the car produces a modest 168 horsepower and will get to 60 in just under 9 seconds (the AWD model will do this in just over 6 seconds). It also has a claimed range of around 220 miles, which is very good for a hybrid.

As an electric car, the Ioniq's main competition comes from Tesla. It’s not going to compete with their top-of-the-range models, such as the Model X. However, comparisons have shown that the Inoiq will outperform the Model Y.

It is produced in the Uslan Plant in South Korea and you’ll also find it is made in Indonesia too.

The 2022 Ioniq does come with some problems. Firstly, they have been reported to be very unreliable. In fact, in a survey, the Ioniq was reported to be the 8th least reliable hybrid car, out of 10 choices. This doesn’t give the car a good look and could turn potential buyers elsewhere. Furthermore, the car is one of the most expensive cars on the market. Considering its poor reliability, this is going to further stop consumers from purchasing it.
