2022 Navigator
The Navigator is the flagship luxury model in Ford’s high-end Lincoln line of SUVs. With prices starting at $78,000, you’d be hoping for the crown jewel, and Lincoln is happy to deliver.
Historically the massive SUV has been built upon the same chassis used by its parent company's Ford F-150 full--size pickup truck.
The 2022 Navigator is available in 5 trim levels: Standard, Reserve, Reserve L, Black Label, and the Black Label L. When you get to the high-end Black Label L, the price starts at a princely $103,150. For reference, the L refers to a long-wheelbase version.
The 2022 model replaced several of the old colors with new ones, namely Silver Jade, Rhapsody Blue, Blue Diamond and Iced Mocha. There might be a lot of choice in trim and color, but not so much in engines. The 2022 Navigator houses a twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The powertrain may be smaller than some of the V8-powered competition, but that V6 still outputs 450-hp and packs a punch, but the ride quality can be negatively impacted if buyers opt for the 22-inch wheels, which they can. They look the part but do reduce comfort on the road.
Fuel economy is 16-mpg in the city, 20-mpg on the highway and 17-mpg combined, making it a thirsty model, but what it lacks in efficiency it makes up for in comfort. The Navigator features 3 seating rows, the third of which is among the most spacious and comfortable in its class.
On top of seating comfort and space, the interior is decked out with open-pore wood trim, sumptuous leather upholstery and other soft-touch materials. The front infotainment screen is an attractive 10-inch unit with flawless and easy-to-read graphics. What’s more, there are USB ports for charging in every row.
Getting the second-level Reserve trim opens you up to heated and ventilated front seats, a driver HUD, more ADAS features and a power-adjustable steering wheel. The towing capacity sits at 8,700-lbs, and is helped along greatly by the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow package from Lincoln.
