2022 XC40
The standard 2022 Volvo XC40 is part of a new generation of crossover luxury SUVs that was launched in the 2018 model year.
It also has an all-electric companion, the XC40 Recharge. The 2022 Volvo XC40 offers 6 different trim levels: T4 Momentum, T5 Momentum, T4 R-Design, T4 Inscription, T5 R-Design, and T5 Inscription.
The base-level T4 Momentum starts at $34,100, powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, the same ones you can find in the larger XC60.
In the T4 models it outputs up to 184-hp, but in the T5 models that augment to 248-hp.
Both are paired with an 8-speed automatic, and the T5 also comes in AWD only which leads to a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs.
The engine delivers up to 30-mpg on the highway, making it competitive in its class, along with 22-mpg in the city, but it’s not the most efficient in this luxury segment.
The distinctive styling of the exterior and interior brings together function and fashion.
Its signature boxy lines have been nicely updated to stay contemporary, while also creating a powerful presence that people who like their cars to be noticed will appreciate.
In 2022, the Volvo XC40 is no longer offering a powered hands-free tailgate as standard, nor front fog lamps or rear child locks, but all are available as extras on all trim levels.
The 2022 Volvo is well designed to appeal to a younger audience, offering combinations of textured metal and traditional wood finishes on the interior that maintain a degree of plushness but without being too over the top.
Fans of the ostentatious can opt for the Inscription model that comes with the gear shift knob crafted from Orrefors crystal.
Other standard interior features include a 9-inch infotainment screen, ample and smart storage for personal items, panoramic sunroof, comfortable well-upholstered seating and much more.
This model sits in the smaller end of the Volvo crossover SUV line with the 2022 XC60 sits above it in terms of size and features.
