2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Owner’s Manual

The Toyota Corolla Cross is pretty self-explanatory.

The Corolla nameplate is famous for its mix of reliability and efficiency of Toyota in a smaller package than the Camry. The Toyota Corolla Cross does the same thing for its crossover lineup, offering a compact crossover SUV that is smaller and more pocket-friendly than the ultra-popular RAV4. This crossover is based directly on the sedan of the same name, adding extra cargo room and more ground clearance.

As is typical with Toyota budget offerings, the 2024 Corolla Cross also bests competitors like the Hyundai Kona, Volkswagen Taos, and Mazda CX-30 in bang for your buck, albeit unsurprisingly lagging behind them in luxuriousness and driving performance.

One of the biggest jumps you get moving from a regular to a Corolla Cross is the increase in legroom and storage space. However, even here, the Cross falls a bit short of the competition, especially with legroom for the rear seats, which is tighter than most other offerings in its class.

Cabin space aside, the 2024 Corolla Cross’s interior is as spartan as it gets, devoid of all things luxurious and focusing on practicality and simplicity over all else. The range-topping XSE trim features a more opulent enhanced features suite that includes ambient interior lighting, heated front seats, and eye-catching faux-leather upholstery. Still, this option looks gaunt placed side-by-side with a Mazda CX-30 or Hyundai Kona.

Powertrain options are equally as bland, with a tardy 2-liter four-cylinder engine that outputs 169 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque being the only option on all three (L, LE, and XLE) trim levels.

However, the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross, like the Corolla, does not aim to wow you but rather to provide a dependable all-rounder that maxes out its reliability and value-for-money stats, and in that department, it over-delivers.
