About The XT6
Cadillac continues its run on handsome SUVs with the latest 3-row SUV the XT6. The XT6 is now entering its third model year having been launched back in the 2020 model year. Its starting price of $48,595 but ranges well up to $70,000+ if you choose the best options and features to go with it.
The 2022 model adds Brembo brakes in the top trim (see trims below) which are painted red for a real athletic look. The leather for the steering wheel when adding the Platinum Package has also now switched from Turin leather to Modena leather.
This model shares its platform with various other lines across the GMC brands including the Buick Enclave and the Chevrolet Traverse.
It comes in 3 trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport. Engine options include a 2.0L 4-cylinder standard engine outputting 237-hp, or an upgraded 310-hp V6 engine, both of which are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The first 2 trim levels focus more on comfort features whereas the Sport trim is marketed more as a performance SUV.
It may be a 3-row SUV seating up to 8 people, but it’s pretty agile for an SUV of this size, especially when you upgrade to the Sport trim. It rides on 20-inch wheels as standard, with 21-inch wheels as an option. The 8-seat layout includes 2 rear bench seats, whereas the 7-seat layout goes for captain’s chairs in the second row.
The interior offers signature Cadillac comfort but some feel it’s a bit dated compared to European brand offerings such as the Audi Q7 or BMW X5. It does come with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, though, which is a nice bonus, and the latest version of Cadillac’s infotainment system, CUE, is intuitive and greatly improved, and displayed on a nice, crisp 8-inch screen.
It’s not the most fuel-efficient, getting up to 27-mpg on the highway and 21-mpg in the city. The V6 lowers those numbers to 26-mpg and 19-mpg respectively.
