About The Colt

The Mitsubishi Colt is a series of small family cars that were in production between 1962 and 2013. This model was later succeeded by the Mitsubishi Mirage.

The first modern version, which was given the designation of Z30, made its debut in 2002. It featured a number of different layout configurations including a 2-door hardtop convertible, 3-door hatchback, 5-door hatchback, and 5-door station wagon, all of which were built on the Mitsubishi Z platform.

All of these were powered by a front-engine and front-wheel or four-wheel drive. A version with a longer wheelbase, called the Colt Plus, was released in 2004.

Similar models in the class include the Smart forfour, Suzuki Swift, Volkswagen Fox, and Honda Fit.

The Colt was released with only a single trim option throughout its time on the market. However, both the interior and exterior styling received a facelift in 2008.

Combustion powertrain options consisted of five petrol options and only a single diesel option. The petrol options range from a 1.1 L inline-3 up to a turbocharged 1.5 L inline-4.

The diesel option was a 1.5 L Di-D inline-4. However, the diesel version was discontinued in 2008 due to low sales figures.

Mitsubishi also released an electric version called the Colt MIEV. This version was powered by two in-wheel motors capable of delivering 20 kW each.

In 2020, Mitsubishi announced plans to release a fully restyled version of the Colt. The Japanese brand is hoping to debut the rebadged version in 2023. This version will share a huge number of similarities with the Renault Clio, the model will be based on.
