About The Eclipse Cross

Mitsubishi entered the compact crossover SUV segment of the market with the Eclipse Cross in the 2018 model year.

Within the compact crossover SUV market, you can find popular models such as the Honda CR-V, the Mazda CX-5 and the Toyota RAV4 which all sell in massive numbers in the USA.

It is not associated (apart from by name) with the previous compact sports car sold by the Japanese auto manufacturer; the Eclipse.

It is built on the same platform used by many Mitsubishi and partner brands with its closest relative being the RVR/ASX.

Unlike the true SUV sold by Mitsubishi (the Outlander), this crossover lacks off-road equipment and so benefits from lower running costs.

Production of the crossover SUV is taking place in China and Japan with sales in the USA and Europe occurring by import.

Available as gasoline or diesel (gasoline only in the USA) powered it can be bought with one of several engines ranging from a 1.5-liter turbocharged through to a 2.4-liter hybrid.

As standard it is front-wheel-drive but customers can choose to upgrade to four-wheel-drive at the sacrifice of weight and fuel economy.

Transfer of power to the wheels is done by a CVT, manual or automatic transmission.

Inside are many of the driver-aids that are being added to models from all carmakers right now such as forward-collision-mitigation.

These driver-aids and other features are usually controlled by the level of trim and in this car, you can choose from one of either 2, 3, 4, Black, Design SE, Dynamic, Exceed or First Edition.

Straight away the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross scored fantastically with crash-testing agency ASEAN NCAP, earning a 5 out of 5 stars.
