The Volkswagen Up! is a city car created by the German automaker to replace the Fox that ran for 8 years before it.

In 2011 the first Up! models rolled off the production line that it shares with the SEAT Mii and Skoda Citigo.

All 3 models are almost exactly identical with only slight differences in the front and rear bumpers - as well as the badge.

The city car classification has been a small segment of the auto market dominated by contenders such as the Renault Twingo and the Toyota Aygo for years.

City cars are extremely small, have very little in the way of safety and comfort features and are powered by tiny engines usually around 1000cc in size.

What they do well though is that they cost very little to buy and run, ideal for zipping around cities as their name suggests.

2018 was a big year for the Up! as Volkswagen introduced the GTI performance version of the car to the market for the first time.

Engineers fitted a high-pressure turbocharger to the GTI variant with a six-speed manual transmission, the standard car is only fitted with a 5-speed.

For the standard and GTI models, you can find a copy of the official owner's manual embedded on this page to view free of charge.

Inside the manual, you will find guides on how to operate the car safely as well as maintain it correctly and help it retain its value.
