2019 A-Class

Mercedes Benz A-Class Photo

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class was one of the most highly rated luxury sedans in its segment, receiving rave reviews and garnering tremendous customer feedback. It’s the smallest Mercedes-Benz sold in the US but still offers a strong list of features, a spacious cabin and excellent driving dynamics.

This A-Class was all-new for the 2019 year, creating a new generation of luxury sedan cars for the US market. It represents a big step forward compared to the previous entry-level Mercedes-Benz sedan, the CLA. It features better build quality and styling, while still keeping the good-value starting price in the low $30,000 range.

The powertrain includes a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine generating 188-hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. That’s paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission with standard FWD drivetrain, but there’s an optional AWD drivetrain as well. It’ll get from 0 to 60 in just 6.1 seconds, even on 19-inch wheels with AWD.

Mercedes-Benz is really setting an industry standard when it comes to the interior quality. The dashboard is fully digital with some of the most stunning eye-popping graphics anywhere. The ambient interior lighting mixes well with gloss black trim, and excellently responsive voice-recognition software in the MBUX infotainment system.

Two small drawbacks with the interior design include the steering wheel obstructing the instrument display when in certain positions, and there’s a little too much hard plastic for a car of this caliber.

Driver assistance tech on offer includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist and much more.

Out on the road, the car feels balanced and poised, especially when you opt for the AWD drivetrain. The car feels glued to the road as it flies around corners with responsive and accurate steering. The Pirelli P Zero tires provide amazing traction, but can make the cabin a bit noisier.
