2019 Volkswagen Touran Owner’s Manual

In 2003 Volkswagen introduced the Volkswagen Touran, a compact MPV (multi-person vehicle or minivan).

It shares its platform with the massively successful supermini Golf model, and in Japan, the car is even known as the Golf Touran.

When the first-generation model was introduced it was very similar to the Golf Plus (compact MPV) but with an extended rear end.

The main difference between these models from Volkswagen is that the Touran has space for 7-seats and the Plus only 5.

A new feature that the car introduced for the German automaker as well as to the segment of the auto market that the Touran sat in was electro-mechanical steering.

This new steering technology used less energy during idle and improved the experience for the driver by adjusting the weight of the steering depending on the speed the car is traveling.

Thanks to the platform being used on the heavily engineered Golf model the choice of engine in the car was vast, with impressive safety ratings for the same reason.

This 2019 version of the car is part of the second generation that was introduced several years earlier in 2015.

2019 was also the first year for several new economical engine choices including a 1-liter turbocharged gasoline option for markets such as China.
