The Nissan Frontier/NP300 is sold as the Navara outside of North and South America but is relatively the same vehicle.
It's classed as a pickup truck with a cab at the front for passengers and a bed in the rear half for cargo.
Originally, it was brought in to replace the Datsun/Nissan 720 pickup in the mid-1980s that had been sold by the company for 30 years previously.
The chassis of the Frontier was used as the basis for the Pathfinder SUV, extending the cab all the way to the back of the truck to make an off-road station wagon.
This 2020 version of the truck sold in North American is not the same as the model sold in Europe, they were given an updated model while the USA retained the second-generation.
For 2020 the US version of the Nissan Frontier gained a new V6 engine and 9-speed automatic transmission with manual transmissions no longer available.
These changes were needed in order to keep up with the leaders of the pickup truck portion of the auto market such as the Ford F-150 which also in recent years implemented a 9-speed transmission.
