The 2022 Nissan Frontier is one of the most affordable midsize pickup trucks on the market with a starting MSRP of just $27,840.

It was formerly known under another name when it arrived back in 1997, the Nissan Navarra. In 2021 it officially became the stand-alone Frontier model.

Underneath this version of the pickup truck is the same platform as the Xterra, Pathfinder and the Armada.

This 2022 Frontier is powered by a 3.8L V6 gasoline engine outputting up to 310-hp and paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

The standard powertrain also delivers up to 281 lb-ft of torque and a towing capacity of 6,720 lbs: not the mightiest in the truck field, but respectable.

On top of towing, the 2022 Frontier also offers up to 1,610 lbs of payload capacity. Its rear bed features 3 channels and 4 cleats for easy rear cargo storage. The largest rear bed is found in the Frontier King Cab mode, with the Crew Cab model able to store 1,480 lbs and the Crew Cab Long Bed model up to 1,360 lbs.

This Nissan truck runs on a standard 2WD drivetrain with driver-selectable 4WD options either “H” or “LO” depending on the circumstances, making the Frontier flexible and capable in varying off-road situations.

Other performance features include hill descent control, hill start assist, and the Active Brake Limited Slip system which senses when wheels are losing traction, automatically sending power and traction to help the wheel regain force.

The exterior is distinguished by powerful, straight lines that create a powerful and dominant appearance, especially at its front end. Its modern LED headlight array lends a more contemporary and sporty feel that complements an otherwise raw muscular front-end design.

The interior is available either as King Cab for up to 4 people, or Crew Cab with seating for up to 5. Nissan offers their all-new “Zero Gravity” seats designed to assist with driver fatigue and comfort issues during longer drives.
