The Tesla Model X is classed as a mid-size crossover SUV and it is powered entirely by electricity.
To design the car Tesla took their Model S model and used 30~% of the parts to create this new model - although they had planned to share more than double that amount between the cars.
Straight away the Model X was a success ranking 7th in the world (alongside other Teslas and models such as the Hyundai Ioniq) among all-electric cars in terms of sales in its first year.
Instead of engine sizes and trims, the crossover SUV can be configured by the size of the electric motor and is branded as:
- 60D, 70D and 75d - 328BHP front + rear
- 90D and 100D - 259bhp front + rear
- P90D and P100D - 259hp front + 503bhp rear
Many drivers of this Tesla will find it to be their first electric car and many of the controls and the feel of the car will be alien to them.
