2022 Sportage
The Kia Sportage is an enduring compact SUV model that has been around since the early 1990s.
This 2022 Sportage will be the final model year for the 4th generation before making way for a new 5th generation in 2023.
It sits on the N3 platform, a chassis shared with many other Hyundai-Kia lines such as the 2022 Hyundai Tucson and the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe.
The 2022 Sportage starts at an MSRP of $24,090 and comes available in 4 trims: LX, Nightfall Edition, EX, and SX Turbo.
Its standard powertrain is a 2.4L 4-cylinder GDI engine outputting up to 181-hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. That’s paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with Sportmatic technology.
The SX Turbo features a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine delivering up to 240-hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, and starts at $33,750.
As is the fashion in many car lineups nowadays, Kia is offering the “Nightfall Edition” which replaces the previous S trim.
You can also find that Nightfall Edition trim is being offered on the latest Kia Seltos model that just came onto the market this year.
It includes a dark gray finish on the wheels, black roof rails, black badging and exterior detailing. That model starts at $28,090.
The EX trim and above on the 2022 Sportage get a panoramic sunroof, as well as the Technology Package which includes adaptive cruise control, leather dash surfaces, ventilated front seats, wireless device charging and a heated steering wheel.
Standard interior equipment includes an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, air conditioning, connectivity to both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, remote keyless entry, and a dual-level cargo floor.
A base level of 30.7 cubic feet of cargo space --- up to 60.1 cubic feet with the rear seats down --- and a total interior volume of 129.3 cubic feet make the Sportage surprisingly spacious among its compact competition.
For driver assistance, Kia is fairly generous, offering forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, lane-keeping, driver attention warning and high beam assist as standard options even in the base LX model.
