About The Trax

Production of the Chevrolet Trax began way back in 2012 and it shares its platform with the Aveo model by the same manufacturer.

The car is a subcompact crossover SUV that has a lot of the positives of owning an SUV while remaining cheap to run, insure and repair.

It’s a rather small car, but it comes with many features that make it perfect for those who live in an urban area.

If you’re wondering what the vehicle has to offer, take a look at the appropriate year’s owner’s manual from the list to the left.

Originally only sold outside of North America, the Trax quickly gained customers and so far has exceeded the sales of the previous year every year.

It wasn’t until 2015 that the SUV would become available in the USA but faced stiff competition right away from the Jeep Renegade and Buick Encore.

The American market had only one choice of engine, a 1.4-liter turbo that meant the SUV was not appropriate for towing. This was a bit of a shot in the foot for the Trax as it made it less of a “utility” vehicle.

To make up for this the car did come with Sirius satellite radio and OnStar for navigation and safety reasons in the US region.

The Chevrolet Trax is also limited in its transmission offering only a 6 speed automatic to US buyers though they could choose between front-wheel or four-wheel-drive.

In 2017 the model got a face-lift with alloy wheels and styling to match the rest of the Chevrolet range’s evolution.

Among the face-lift changes were a shuffle to the trim options which now included badges such as:

  • LS
  • LT
  • LTZ
  • Premier
