About The Journey
In an attempt to consolidate several product lines the Dodge Journey SUV was created, replacing the following vehicles:
- Dodge Magnum
- Dodge Caravan
- Dodge Nitro
- Chrysler Pacifica (the SUV version, pre-2008)
The designers wanted to take what worked well with the other SUVs and minivans and create the ultimate replacement and so the Journey was born in 2009.
These owner’s manuals will teach you how to operate your car properly, as well as give tips on maintaining the health of your car.
For a larger SUV, customers have the choice of the company’s Dodge Durango that is based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee platform.
This model has a wide range of engines and transmissions ranging from economical inline 4’s to more pokey V6’s.
It shares its platform with a mid-size car from the same American automaker, the second generation Avenger.
It doesn’t share its platform with the first generation Avenger though as it was a sports compact coupe built on the Mitsubishi Galant chassis.
Since its release, there has been a face-lift in 2011 where the body got a smooth new redesign and saw the steering and suspension upgraded.
2011+ buyers also saw a new touch-screen infotainment system installed in the dashboard with mobile connectivity.
A wide range of trims helps keep the Dodge Journey relevant to many different buyers across a variety of budgets, including:
- American Value Package
- Crew
- Crossroad
- Express
- GT
- Limited
- Lux
- Mainstreet
- R/T
- SE
- SXT
Safety is a major selling point in any SUV as they are popular with families, the Journey scores 5 out of 5 stars with Euro’s NCAP and 5 out 5 stars for most disciplines in the USA.
Sales have remained pretty steady through the years with sales helped with the push into emerging markets although with today’s wide range of SUV’s competition is heating up.
2020 marked the last year for the Journey as the company moves towards being seen as a performance-centric brand.
