The compact crossover segment is among the most competitive anywhere in the automotive market. The 2020 Audi Q3 was a popular luxury model and a big “go-to” for many looking to make the change to a crossover from a sedan.

The Q3 features many of the great qualities that made Audi’s A-Series sedan cars like the A4 and A6 so popular --- the large and dominant front grille, cutting-edge lights, the pleasing mixture of athletic and executive in the overall exterior styling, and a well-appointed interior --- while of course creating the sense of power and utility that one expects from an SUV model.

The 2020 Audi Q3 comes in three trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. There were no major updates or changes in the 2020 model year, because the model had just received a major refresh in the 2019 model year, so it was mostly a continuation of that same model.

It was powered by the same 2.0L 4-cylinder engine in all trim levels, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and an AWD drivetrain. It wasn’t as dynamic as some of its siblings in its engine response, but the Q3 still offered grace and stability on the road.

The suspension in particular was very strong, similar to the Q5 model. Even the conventional suspension without the optional upgrade was still a great performer on the road, and even on the worst surfaces.

Driving dynamics are not so strong in throttle and acceleration, but it does offer “S” mode when driving, which helps the transmission work in a sportier and more dynamic fashion when driving at speed.

At 19-mpg in the city and 27-mpg on the highway, it’s not especially efficient, but Audi made the interior very comfortable and well-appointed, including a standard panoramic sunroof, and leather upholstery with heated front seats that were also power-adjustable with lumbar support. The infotainment screen was 8.8 inches as standard but upgradable to 10.1 inches.
