2020 marks the first model year for the ID.3, an all-electric compact car.
It is built on the new MEB platform that is put to use under many of the VW brand electric cars.
You can also find the platform at work under the newer 2021 ID.4 and the 2021 Škoda Enyaq.
The concept model of the ID.3 VW dazzled the motoring world with many futuristic features such as camera-driven wing mirrors and LiDAR-based autonomous driving technology.
Some of those features actually made it to the production model but the most important factors are the range of this electric car.
You can buy the ID.3 with one of three drivetrains with ranges of 205 miles, 260 miles or 340 miles.
By spending more on your model you can get it fitted with bigger and better batteries as well as more powerful electric motors.
As well as paying for bigger and better batteries you also pay more for faster charging times, using new batter technology to make that happen.
2020 saw the car plagued with software issues that were fixed later in the year, alongside COVID-19 this led to production and delivery delays.
