2021 Toyota 4Runner Owner’s Manual

In the early 1980s, Toyota introduced the 4Runner for the first time as a compact SUV to rival the Ford Bronco and Chevrolet Blazer.

Quickly though consumer tastes changed and compact SUVs went out of taste, buyers wanting an SUV needed it to do more to part their money for it.

So Toyota redesigned the SUV and made it larger for the second generation leading sales to double by the next year.

Being larger meant that the company could make it more comfortable and stuff more features into the car thus enticing customers.

They constructed this new SUV using the Hilux chassis, the follow-on from the older Toyota Pickup that it replaced in the 1980s.

The Japanese automobile manufacturer followed this pattern of offering more and more features while refining the exterior styling over the years until we get to the truck today.

Now, the 4Runner is in its fifth generation and continues to push even more sales each year.

This 2021 version of the car features LED lighting, a digital instrument cluster and electronic trailer sway protection.

2021 models can be purchased in a variety of trims including the high-end TRD Pro featuring TRD Bilstein shock absorbers and skid-plate.
