2022 Niro
The 2022 Kia Niro EV is the newest subcompact crossover from Kia. It is an extremely pretty model and builds on its predecessors. However, it does fail to make a significant impact in the electric car market, because its competition, such as Tesla, outperforms it in almost every way.
The Niro has one electric motor under the hood. This produces 201 horsepower and sends it to the front wheels via a one-speed transmission. This allows the car to accelerate from 0-60 in just 6.2 seconds, making it faster than the Hyundai Kona Electric. You’ll also find regenerative breaking on the Niro, which helps to save energy, and even allows drivers to control the car with just one pedal.
You could find the first Niro models hitting the market in 2016 and original examples were offered in a hybrid, plugin-hybrid and electric drivetrain right away.
It really stands out in terms of its comfort. Ride smoothness and exterior road noises are far less noticeable in the Kia Niro than in any other electric car at this price, including the Tesla Model Y. It’s also seen as one of the most reliable cars at the price range, so is great for drivers who want a safe and hassle-free vehicle.
The 2022 Niro comes well equipped, with a touchscreen infotainment center, as well as a sunroof and wireless charging. You’ll also find a sophisticated climate control system.
However, this doesn’t mean that the Kia Niro EV is void of problems. Its major problem is its lack of originality. It seems like there is no personality in this car. It drives great, but there’s just nothing that stands out about it. So, if you want a car that will become your friend as well as your vehicle, this might not be the best choice for you.
The 2022 Niro EV is produced in South Korea, within the three main Kia plants (these being the Hwasung, Sohari and Kwangju plants).
