The Vauxhall Corsa, aka the Opel Corsa, is a compact hatchback car that has found massive success in the European market, especially in the UK where it has been a consistent and affordable favorite of drivers new and experienced.

The Corsa has been around since the 1980s and has massively evolved through multiple generations. The 2020 model year is the second model year of the 5th generation models, launched in 2019.

It shares its platform with sibling models such as the Peugeot 208 hatchback and the subcompact crossover SUV the Mokka.

If you compare the 2020 Opel/Vauxhall Corsa to its predecessor in the 4th generation, the most noticeable difference at the front end is the raising of the bonnet to be flatter instead of the drooping design that had been dominant before. The front logo features chrome finishes, with simple creases and lines creating a sporty finish overall.

The Corsa runs on any of three 3-cylinder gasoline engine units all at 1.2L displacement, and two of them turbocharged. They output from 75-hp at the low end to 130-hp at the high end. There’s also a 1.5L 4-cylinder diesel model outputting 102-hp.

There was a recall on some Corsa models in 2020 to address issues with the steering column and high-pressure pumps. These should be already fixed on any models bought pre-owned. Despite this, the 2020 models are still incredibly desirable and unique because they are the first to feature much of the new technology from their parent company PSA after being acquired from GM.

The interior on the higher trims has lovely detailing features like color inlays in the dash, large infotainment screen, comfortable and supportive sports seats. Unfortunately, the Peugeot elements, while great in the infotainment features, are not so great in the glove compartment which is monopolized by the fuse box.

On the road, the Peugeot made 1.2L turbocharged engines are excellent and provide pleasing power. The 2020 model is also a couple of hundred pounds lighter, making it feel faster and more maneuverable. You can also expect to achieve a very respectable 40-mpg in fuel economy.
