You can trace the roots of the original Range Rover way back to the 1950s when it was just an idea on the drawing board.

Nowadays this 2022 is light years away from that basic idea for a larger version of the Land Rover Defender.

It uses 80% aluminium in its new chassis leading to a slightly heavier chassis than before but with the improved strength comes electric drivetrains.

Gone is the 4-cylinder engine options and the supercharged V8 and in comes a BMW twin-turbocharged powerplant.

These new BMW inline 6-cylinder engines are also seen in the 2022 Sport and later in the year, you can also order mild and plug-in hybrid upgrades too.

A new infotainment system for the 2022 Range Rover not only brings new features and clears up the dashboard but appears as if it's floating on the surface.

It syncs with your mobile device to extend the functionality to include voice-activated controls for both the device and the car.

At the top end of the order sheet is the new SV performance trim that features huge 23-inch alloy wheels, the largest ever fitted to the Land Rover model.
