The original Jeep Wagoneer can be traced back to the 1960s when the nameplate first appeared.

In 2022 it made a comeback after not being on sale for 29 years, although that third-generation model was a rebadged Grand Cherokee.

This new revival of the model is classed as a full-size SUV or as a full-size luxury SUV if you opt for the Grand Wagoneer.

As you can tell the Grand Wagoneer is a more premium offering of the same car, with extended luxury and standard features.

The new model is intended to take on the lucrative luxury SUV market that is currently dominated by the Cadillac Escalade and the Lincoln Navigator.

To create this new Wagoneer, Chrysler (Jeeps parent company) took the Dodge Ram Pickup chassis and added an SUV body on top of it.

Powering the 2022 model is either a 5.7-liter V8 with a mild-hybrid system or a 6.4-liter V8 non-hybrid in the Grand model.

Both two lines have an 8-speed automatic transmission mated to the engine to get great acceleration and efficient cruising at high speed.

As standard, the 2022 SUV is a rear-wheel-drive but an optional four-wheel-drive upgrade is available for additional offroad traction.
